School House
Wetland Trail Bunny Trail Meadows Amphitheater
Bird Bus

The tour of the Roy Hyatt Environmental Center continues with journeys down the trails as well as isolated spots where one can enjoy the peacefulness of the surroundings. The Bird Bus is an interesting addition. This unique bird blind has benches for students to sit upon and watch the feathered friends come to the feed and gorge themselves on gourmet seeds. For the most part, the seeds are donated by area businesses.

There are two types of trails, one which meanders through a pitcher plant hill seepage bog and the other around the museum building. The trail around the museum building, known as the "Bunny Trail" is littered with poster paintings which provide clues to the names of the different types of plants.

The one room schoolhouse is a replicate of a type found in the Southeastern United States during the 19th Century. Students are given a "taste" of what it was like to be educated in this type of building through their participation in 19th Century "classes."

The amphitheater provides not only a resting place for the visitor put also an area in which to gather students to learn about the Center's Birds of Prey and to dip candles. Candle dipping appears to be one of the highlights for 4th grade students. When the day is finished, all students go home with their own dipped candle, produced as if they were making them for the home of the 19th Century,
