Currently undergoing reformating to an 800 x 600 resolution environment. The Roy Hyatt Environment Study Center is located on 120 acres of heavily forested land in West Central Escambia County, Florida, approximately 10 miles north of downtown Pensacola ("as the crow flies"). The Center was founded in 1968, by Mr. Roy Hyatt, a Biology teacher with the School District of Escambia County. After several moves, and 12 years later, its present location was provided through the generosity of the Government Service Administration, when the U.S. Navy OLF Kingsfield was declared surplus. The Center provides field trips which focus upon wetlands, life on a 19th century dogtrot home and schoolhouse, the natural history museum, the pollution/recycling museum, the school bus bird blind, trail tours, and the microscope laboratory. This electronic field trip is designed to get you, the visitor, to explore the Center. Of course this trip can not compare to being there and smelling, the Cherokee rose bushes, the anise, honeysuckle, or viewing the majesty of the birds of prey, but it's the next best thing. So sit back, relax, and off we go. Oh, one other bit of information-you must have Apple's Quicktime technology as part of your browser tool set in order to participate with the interactivites associated with this "fieldtrip." You may get the free download at: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download. |
