Acknowledgements The Roy Hyatt Environmental Center is greatly indebted to a number of highly competent and representative members of the Escambia County School District who served on the completion of this long awaited document. The fourth and fifth grade teachers involved were responsible for the development of field trip activities, location of resources and the adaption of materials contained within this publication. During the Spring of 1995, these teachers were also involved in the piloting of the field trips. Students participated in recess games, spelling bees, mathematical problems, elocution, farmhouse chores which included well water pumping, cleaning clothing, housesweeping, road sweeping, and candle dipping.
